Chalk Painting - Turn Mass-Produced Furniture into Original Works of Art

I took two identical mass-produced child's rockers and turned them into original pieces using Folk Art Chalk Paint, clear wax, and antique wax.

I really enjoyed this project! I hope you enjoy the video and that it helps inspire you to make your own works of art!

Anxiety Rears Its Ugly Head! [Vlog]

The past week has been really rough. I've been having multiple anxiety attacks a day. The anxiety was situational, but it triggered a vicious cycle where I would start to have anxiety, then I would become anxious about the anxiety, and so on and so on...

I wound up asking for a refill of my anxiety medication that I hadn't needed in about 7 months. A few days of taking it and I was able to slow down the cycle of anxiety. I'm still trying to pull out of it but am feeling much better at this point.

Do you ever find yourself overwhelmed with anxiety? What do you do when that happens?

Ikea Billy Bookcase Assembly

Hi, guys!

I put a new video up on YouTube about the Ikea Billy Bookcase.  I'm not affiliated with Ikea and am not tied to them in business in any way - I just really like their furniture.  We have several pieces of Ikea furniture in our home and, with storage space in our house at a minimum, I really love the way their furniture provides a lot of storage in a small space.  In fact, I'm itching to take another trip to Ikea...but not until after I've finished our current projects!

I also really enjoy putting together their furniture.  I don't know what it is about it but I find myself going into hyperfocus mode.  Once I spent several hours putting together a dresser while I watched multiple episodes of "Naked and Afraid" from the DVR.  I finally had to force myself to take a break for dinner 3 hours past my usual dinner time!

I'm planning on doing a Billy Bookcase hack.  We'll be putting three or five (depending if I can talk my husband into five, lol) together with some molding to make them look like built in bookcases.  If you search Ikea Billy Bookcase Hack on Pinterest you can find several examples of this.

As of now, I have one wide (31 1/2" wide) and one regular (15 1/2" wide) together.  We have another wide to add.  If I get my way, we will add an additional wide and regular, and then connect them with molding on top, bottom, and in between.

I recorded myself putting together the regular width bookcase.  When we add the molding and connect the cases I'll record that as well.

In the meantime, if you're thinking about getting one of these bookcases, here's the video to show you just how easy they are to assemble:

I've been planning this project for a long time.  It feels great to finally be working on it!

Isn't it amazing how much being productive can brighten our moods?  It certainly does help mine!
